You’ll rarely hear me fangirl over TV. I just don’t watch it enough. When I do put something on the television, it’s generally a bad sci-fi movie or a documentary. But this topic specifically addresses television shows, so here’s your chance to see inside my head. These shows are in no particular order of preference. Sci-Fi & Scary TV? Only Sometimes.
I’m not really sure what I think of it. Lots of twists and turns. I can tell you I quite happily objectify several of the cast every time I watch it.
I realize it’s listed as a horror, but… this is not a horror show. (At least where I’m at.) Instead it’s a show about a family with severe mental health and trauma issues.
Okay, truthfully, with one and two we’ve already talked about the only shows I regularly watch. The rest of these, including Shannara Chronicles, are ones that I pull up occasionally. As in … maybe two times a month. My 7 year old could tell you more about Shannara than I could.
This was good. I’m not a massive fan, but I enjoyed it. No plans to watch a second season if it happens.
…and that’s it. That’s all I got. I’m just not a huge TV fan. Why would I waste my time on TV when I could be reading a fantastic book instead?
I can’t just leave it here, though, so here’s the TV shows I’ve binged on Netflix in the past, but haven’t watched in the last…er.. 5 months or so?
(Disclaimer: I am a nerd. You have been warned.)
Well, there you go. Leave your links (although I probably won’t have a clue what you’re watching, I’ll happily go and look!)
Stranger Things and Bate Motel made my list as well. I liked the Shannara series too – is it going to be continued or have you heard? I agree with Bates Motel not being a horror show but I think the acting is superb. I love the sheriff and think he looks a lot like Anthony Perkins as well.
I honestly wasn’t aware there was debate on Shanarra being continued or not . lol! The acting in Bates Motel is fantastic. I dont really like a single character but they are so fascinating to watch!
I’m not a terribly big TV fan, either, so this list was trouble for me, too. No Netflix for me, but I discovered Doctor Who on Amazon Prime, and am finally getting to the part of the recent show I missed! 🙂
I honestly stopped watching Who once Tennant was no longer Dr. Watched a few more but that was it.
What about Helix, Revolution, or Between?
Seen a few episodes of Helix, one episode of Revolution, and turned off Between halfway through first episode bc I don’t watch shows with pregnant ladies , birth , or babies if I can avoid it.
I just started watching Stranger Things last night. Only watched one episode, but so far it seems pretty good. I was really into bingeing Bates Motel for a little while, but haven’t watched more than the first season (I think I watched the first episode of the second season actually). It never seemed very scary to me either 😛
Stranger Things gets dramatically better after the first episode, too. 🙂
I’m not surprised you don’t watch much TV. Anyone who accomplishes as much as you, reading and reviewing and blogging, couldn’t possibly have much time for TV.
Yeah, I guess anyone who pays attention to how much I read shouldn’t be surprised . TV is what I put on when I’m ready for bed. A nice space documentary droning in the background to accompany my audio book is perfect.
I also love Bates Motel but I agree it really isn’t horror. I really need to catch up with it though! I only watched the first episode of Stranger Things and wasn’t impressed but everyone keeps telling me I should keep at it. Maybe eventually… Great list!
Here are my Top Ten
Yeah, first episode of Stranger Things is its weakest one.
Only watched a couple of the shows you listed. I can’t wait for season 2 of Stranger Things!! 🙂
See, I’m afraid they’ll ruin it with a second season. It was a perfect little mini-series. Why screw with it? Just let it be awesome and memorable.
Stranger Things has been recommended to me more often than I can count, but I’m not sure if it’s something I’ll enjoy watching – it sounds intriguing and I’ll probably be gripped, but I’m very jumpy. Is it violent and does it rely a lot on shock, do you find?
Hm, I honestly don’t think its scary at all. Its very..hrm… atmospheric/creepy? And there are some sad things that happen, but there’s no large amounts of gore, or tons of jump scares, or anything like that.
I really liked Quantico, but it got a little bit silly towards the end!
Oh, that’s disappointing 🙁
I only recently started watching some live action TV shows (hence why you saw all the anime on my own TTT post) and I’ve never been big on TV. So I understand!
I wanted to try Bates Motel, but never got around to it. And I plan to start Stranger Things Soon :3
