TTT: Sci-Fi & Scary TV? Only Sometimes.

TTT Banner for Not on TV

You’ll rarely hear me fangirl over TV. I just don’t watch it enough. When I do put something on the television, it’s generally a bad sci-fi movie or a documentary. But this topic specifically addresses television shows, so here’s your chance to see inside my head. These shows are in no particular order of preference. Top Ten Tuesday is brought to you courtesy of the Broke and Bookish

Sci-Fi & Scary TV? Only Sometimes.

Quantico I’m not really sure what I think of it. Lots of twists and turns. I can tell you I quite happily objectify several of the cast every time I watch it.

Bates Motel

I realize it’s listed as a horror, but… this is not a horror show. (At least where I’m at.) Instead it’s a show about a family with severe mental health and trauma issues.

ShannaraOkay, truthfully, with one and two we’ve already talked about the only shows I regularly watch. The rest of these, including Shannara Chronicles, are ones that I pull up occasionally. As in … maybe  two times a month. My 7 year old could tell you more about Shannara than I could.

Stranger Things

This was good. I’m not a massive fan, but I enjoyed it. No plans to watch a second season if it happens.

…and that’s it. That’s all I got. I’m just not a huge TV fan. Why would I waste my time on TV when I could be reading a fantastic book instead?

I can’t just leave it here, though, so here’s the TV shows I’ve binged on Netflix in the past, but haven’t watched in the last…er.. 5 months or so?

(Disclaimer: I am a nerd. You have been warned.)

Well, there you go. Leave your links (although I probably won’t have a clue what you’re watching, I’ll happily go and look!)

  1. Stranger Things and Bate Motel made my list as well. I liked the Shannara series too – is it going to be continued or have you heard? I agree with Bates Motel not being a horror show but I think the acting is superb. I love the sheriff and think he looks a lot like Anthony Perkins as well.

  2. I’m not a terribly big TV fan, either, so this list was trouble for me, too. No Netflix for me, but I discovered Doctor Who on Amazon Prime, and am finally getting to the part of the recent show I missed! 🙂

  3. What about Helix, Revolution, or Between?

  4. I just started watching Stranger Things last night. Only watched one episode, but so far it seems pretty good. I was really into bingeing Bates Motel for a little while, but haven’t watched more than the first season (I think I watched the first episode of the second season actually). It never seemed very scary to me either 😛

  5. I’m not surprised you don’t watch much TV. Anyone who accomplishes as much as you, reading and reviewing and blogging, couldn’t possibly have much time for TV.

  6. I also love Bates Motel but I agree it really isn’t horror. I really need to catch up with it though! I only watched the first episode of Stranger Things and wasn’t impressed but everyone keeps telling me I should keep at it. Maybe eventually… Great list!

    Here are my Top Ten

  7. Only watched a couple of the shows you listed. I can’t wait for season 2 of Stranger Things!! 🙂

  8. Stranger Things has been recommended to me more often than I can count, but I’m not sure if it’s something I’ll enjoy watching – it sounds intriguing and I’ll probably be gripped, but I’m very jumpy. Is it violent and does it rely a lot on shock, do you find?

  9. Cody says:

I really liked Quantico, but it got a little bit silly towards the end!

  10. I only recently started watching some live action TV shows (hence why you saw all the anime on my own TTT post) and I’ve never been big on TV. So I understand!
I wanted to try Bates Motel, but never got around to it. And I plan to start Stranger Things Soon :3
