Ahhh, it’s that time of year again. The sweet smell of over-priced roses, the restaurants being over-crowded (which is a whole other issue this year as it is), adorable plushies (Gracie will fully admit that she’s a sucker for dragon and octo squishies), and chocolate, chocolate everywhere.
Which is a plus.
Honestly, it’s not the idea of romance and love that some of us (mostly Gracie *cough*) that we have an issue with. It’s the enforced romance feeling of Valentine’s Day that we give some side-eye to. That kind of judgmental feeling that’s in the air if you aren’t with someone or perfectly happy alone.
So, to celebrate Valentine’s our way we’ve compiled a list of the sweet, the steamy, the bloody and the beautiful. So we can celebrate the day in all of our own ways.

GracieKat was the first co-host of Sci-Fi & Scary, Lilyn’s partner-in-crime, and sub-head of the Kali Krew. She reviews horror books, movies, and games for the site. She also does a weekly Focus on the Frightful feature, and is the site list-maker. She is also in control of the Sci-Fi & Scary podcast which will relaunch soon.
I like a number on this list. Let me add an oldie: C. L. Moore’s “Shambleau” from 1933, one of the first stories with a believable alien psychology, and a horrifying love story!
