Authors We’d Like to Meet

A banner with the words The Top Ten Tuesday List on it. Of course when we say “authors we’d like to meet” we mean authors we’d like to meet if we weren’t so introverted. And, as you can tell, a few of us are less introverted than others and would actually like to meet them. We’re really not for this whole “If you could meet an author, who would you meet thing” because I have basically zero desire to meet any authors. I know that sounds a bit weird, but I want their books – not them. However, there are a few authors whose brains we would like to pick and poke at.

Frankie’s Picks

Neil Gaiman

Author of:

American Gods

Small Sci-Fi and Scary Divider

Cherise Wolas

Author of:

The Resurrection of Joan Ashby

Small Sci-Fi and Scary Divider

Lilyn’s Picks

H.G. Wells

Author of:

In the Days of the Comet

Talking with H.G. Wells about his ‘In the Days of the Comet‘ would be interesting. His other works are good, and get a lot of attention. However, that’s the story I’d really like to talk about with him.

Small Sci-Fi and Scary Divider

Donald Moffitt

Author of:

Children of the Comet

Donald Moffitt, who died back in 2014 had an amazing mind. I read his last book first and his first book last. I really feel like he didn’t get nearly the attention he deserved. His imagination was a fantastic one.

GracieKat’s Picks

H.P. Lovecraft

Author of:

There aren’t too many authors that I’d like to meet. Most of the ones that I’d like to are dead. Jane Austen is one of them but she’s not horror so she won’t work here (although I’d love to know what kind of horror she would have written, most likely tongue-in-cheek would be my guess). With authors that are so well-known they almost have their own mythology built up around them. I’d be interested in seeing if they are the same in person.

Small Sci-Fi and Scary Divider

H.R. Wakefield

Author of:

They Return at Evening

H.R. Wakefield is another that I’d be curious about. Most of his correspondence was destroyed and as far as I could tell most of the stories about him come from a niece that couldn’t have been very old at the time. so I would want to meet him…just to see. I’m not sure what it says about me that I want to meet all of the jerks to see if they’re really jerks.

Stephen King

The Shining

Small Sci-Fi and Scary Divider

Ania Ahlborn

Author of:

The Devil Crept In

  1. I’d like to talk with Vernon Lee (1856-1935). A crossdressing Victorian lesbian expatriate who’s also an expert on 17th century Italian music, as well as a writer of horror stories? Yea-hah!

    • I didn’t know that about Vernon Lee! She sounds fascinating!

  2. Great list! I wouldn’t mind meeting these authors too.
