In this first story, Lottie’s dad brings a dollhouse into the family store. A ghost is attached to it. It doesn’t take Lottie long to connect with the ghost, but when she does, her heart fills with sadness.
This is going to be a difficult case for Lottie, but she is determined to help the ghost.

The Haunted Dollhouse Review

Something about the synopsis for The Haunted Dollhouse grabbed me. Even though I normally shy away from short stories, I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. E.R. Rose’s character, Lottie Landers, is a sweet kid who has her heart in the right place. Though that’s not what I like most about the story. What I absolutely loved was that her parents were involved.

Her mum and dad both know that Lottie can see ghosts. Her dad thinks it’s a fantastic thing. Her mum is just supportive. She knows how hard it can be to see what Lottie sees (kind of). Rather than brushing it off or pretending it’s not a big deal, her mum is instead there for her daughter. She supervises her; she takes her around to investigate, etc. It’s an absolutely wonderful thing to see in a book. I did truly enjoy the tale, but it is this factor more than anything that will make me pick up more stories in this series.

The story in The Haunted Dollhouse is a sad one. (But aren’t most ghost stories, really?)  It hurt my heart to see the little ghost suffering. I was definitely rooting for Lottie to help her with the unfinished business she had. The resolution to the story was perfect. I felt all sorts of sad and happy at the same time. Rather amazing to evoke that much emotion in all of 38 pages!

E.R. Rose is a talented author, and The Haunted Dollhouse is a story worth taking a look at, whether you’re in the appropriate age range or not. I think the story will make an impact on readers regardless.

  1. I loved the idea of parents involved. Generally in such kind of stories, the main focus remains on thr MC and parents are generally left iut. But I am glad this is not the case here. And all this in just 38 pages? That’s hard to believe. I am glad you enjoyed this book 😊
