The Adventures of Cthulhu Jr. and Dastardly Dirk Review
Can I just say that I want a Cthulhu Jr. plushie? Like, really, really want one? I hope this series takes off if for nothing else than to have the chance to have a Cthulhu Jr. plushie. Or Pop! That would be cool, too.
Fortunately, I think that’s very possible. I loved Cthulhu Jr. and Dastardly Dirk. The art style is cute and original and the story was great. Dastardly Dirk is a very humorous, likeable “villain”. And Dastardly Dirk’s floating skull sidekick, Aloysius.
What caught my eye first was the picture on the back of a be-scarfed and top-hatted guy chasing down a mini-Cthulhu with a butterfly net. I was intrigued. Dastardly Dirk is the most vile of villains…whose wife makes homemade cookies for him to take to his “poker” nights. Which are really his E.V.I.L. nights. Villainy villains plotting world domination (what else?).
I really can’t wait for the next Cthulhu Jr. comic. I can’t wait to see what happens with Dastardly Dirk, his wife Karen and I really, really want to see if Dirk’s little girl becomes friends with Cthulhu Jr. I also want to know more about Archie and how he knows Junior. And what the reaction of E.V.I.L. will be to the big, dark storm cloud.
This is a great comic for all ages, truly. You can read it with your kids and I can bet that they’d love the Adventures of Cthulhu. It’s cute and fun with very nice, colorful illustrations.
