Proofreading Services

Need Proofreading Services?

Are you an independent author that lacks someone with an objective eye to read your work and point out common spelling and punctuation mistakes? Then you probably need a proofreader. A professional proofreader can get rather expensive from what I’ve seen, and money is not something that a lot of indie authors have in abundance.

Now, before you read any further, let me make something perfectly clear. I am not a ‘professional proofreader’. I don’t have a degree in English or Creative Writing. I am not an editor. However, I have this rather annoying ability to almost instantly spot mistakes when I’m reading something. I’m not saying I find every single thing that’s wrong in a manuscript, but I easily find 90+ percent of them.

I can’t tell you the amount of times that I’ve reached out to an author whom I’ve done a review for, and had to ask “Have you had this looked over for spelling and punctuation?” Most of the time, the answer is, sadly, “yes”. I then have to tell them that I’ve spotted numerous errors in their work that still need to be corrected. As a result, I’ve had more than a few authors ask if I hire out as a proofreader.

I’ve always said no because I don’t have any official training for it.  However, it definitely seems like there’s a need out there, and I have bills to pay. So…
