It’s hot. I think we can all agree on that. So, what better way to ignore and reprimand the sun for being a deadly lazer than to pop in a couple of these movies that have the most awesome covers we’ve ever seen.

One of the drawbacks of very few brick and mortar rental stores is that you lose the pleasure of roaming the aisles, smelling popcorn and bubblegum and hearing the slushie machine in the background. Studying each shiny cover until the one catches your eye and that’s the one you want. Is it going to be a good movie? Who knows? But the cover was amazing and that was all that really mattered.
Below are some of the Kali Krew’s favourite horror and sci-fi movie covers.

The Descent

The Fall
Chosen by JB Rockwell

Fantastic story, visually stunning, so of the most AMAZING COSTUMES and there’s this scene of a swimming elephant that is beautiful
Also, Lee Pace. Just sayin’….

Halloween
Chosen by Brian

The original Halloween poster. The knife, the ghosted images of the knife fading to the background forming a jack-o-lantern, the gloved hand. All on a black background. A classic poster that implies things so much.

Picnic at Hanging Rock

It captures the feel of both the movie and the book so well. As though you’re watching something vague and mysterious from the past that you yearn to solve and can’t. A beautiful movie with gorgeous sound design.
Scream
Chosen by Sam

Skeet Ulrich’s ‘Stache is an abomination and it will never not bug the shit out of me that he never at any point in the movie has that stupid little ‘stache!

Beautiful cover for a gorgeous movie

The art for “Jennifer’s Body” got me to rent it. Also, “Bubba Ho-Tep,” “The Autopsy of Jane Doe,” and “When Animals Dream.” And it was the poster for “Hellraiser” that got me into the theater for that film.
