We all have that movie. The movie that we love to an unreasonable degree. The movie that we will pull out at any opportunity to inflict…I mean show, to others. Some of the movies below are pretty well known. Others are a bit more obscure but one thing they all have in common (besides a few outliers) is that opinions on them are pretty drastically divided.

The Meg
5.7 IMDB Rating

“I found it high action and a lot of fun!” – Nico and Sian

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
4.0 IMDB Rating

“I might get a lot of flack for this but I really liked Book of Shadows. I thought it was much better than Blair Witch. It had some tropes (and some of the worst parts were due to studio meddling) but all in all I found it enjoyable and genuinely creepy in parts.” – GracieKat

Deep Blue Sea
5.8 IMDB Rating

“If we’re talking sharks then I vote Deep Blue Sea. LL Cool J is hysterical!” – V. Castro

Killer Klowns from Outer Space
6.1 IMDB Rating

“Literally everyone I talk to hates Killer Klowns. I don’t give a shit. It’s a classic!” – Sammy
The Last Starfighter
6.7 IMDB Rating

“It’s an old eighties flick and honestly, I don’t know if it would hold up on a rewatch. But nostalgia makes me say I loved it. Not sure how others feel about this one so feel free to comment below” – Tracy
Day After Tomorrow
6.4 IMDB Rating

“I don’t love Day After Tomorrow in the traditional sense. I don’t think it’s a particularly great movie but it is the best movie for putting on for background noise ever. If I’m having trouble sleeping, it’s the movie that I put on to watch.” – Lilyn
Devil
6.2 IMDB Rating

“Devil gets a lot of flack, mainly just because it’s a Shyamalan movie and the plot bears a small resemblence to And Then There Were None. But I had a ball with it and it’s greet fun to place bets on who The Devil might be. The furthest I’ll go is admitting that the toast thing is ridiculous.” – GracieKat
Waterworld
6.2 IMDB Rating

“I just get lost in the world” – Tracy
Scary Movie
6.2 IMDB Rating

“It might not be to everyone’s taste but to that we say “Nay!” Nay. “ – Sammy
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
6.5 IMDB Rating

“How does this only have a 6.5 rating?! After the atrocities that were Godzilla (1998) and Godzilla (2014) this is a damn kaiju masterpiece!” – Lilyn

I loved the picks for this. Most I’ve seen, and still love despite how much everyone else seems to hate them (Like Killer Klowns from Outerspace- that movie is one of the best). There are a couple I haven’t seen yet, so I’m making it a mission to find and watch them now
Deep Blue Sea is completely moronic, but I loved it when I saw it in 1999. It has nostalgic value for me. It’s also very well made and has “so bad its good” qualities for sure.
I agree with Lilyn – DAT is a good movie for background noise 🙂 Independence Day ditto, but there are more fun bits to actually watch!
