News

  • The Space Kraken Short Fiction Artists’ Hall: A little while ago on Twitter we ran a poll asking readers what was the best thing we could do to help promote diversity in art and film. The most popular answer was to give marginalized groups a space.

Well, we are not a major publishing house. (Hell, we’re not even a tiny one.) But, we listened, and we want to give marginalized groups a space to have all their fantastic ideas heard.

There will be more information to come when the space opens on July 1st, so stay tuned.
  • Member Lost: Mike Justman, who has previously contributed pulp sci-fi reviews and recently said he wanted to do old horror movie reviews has done a mental health walkaway. We wish him the best.
  • New Opportunities: While we are not actively seeking to replace Mike at this time, we would be open to giving POC or Latnix writers and reviewers another space to post their reviews, thought pieces, and maybe short creative fiction. This would be open to two potential members. If interested, please reach out via the comments section below, or hit me up on Twitter at @scifiandscary.
  • As usual, you have seen DNFs listed on this page. We will continue to do so in order to give more transparency to the books and movies we consider for the site.
