This Week in Books: I’ve been slow.

WWW is from Sam over at Taking on a World of Words, and this is also combination post as This Week in Books by Lipsyy is essentially the same thing. Covers link to Goodreads unless otherwise specified.

I haven’t read much this week. I’m doing the whole psychiatrist thing, and seeing a CNP, and we’re trying to sort out meds for me, plus the rugrat’s been sick, so…. yeah. *sigh* I’ve spent the whole week either so anxious I’m ready to climb the walls…or so exhausted I can’t see straight.  Actually spend most of this morning at the doctors with Miss L. When your kid already has ‘broken lungs’ (the best way we explain it to her), a fever of 102 combined with a cough is not something to be taken lightly.

What I’m Reading This Week

Saturn Run

Progress: 75% | Opinion So Far: Well-written hard scifi with memorable characters narrated by someone with some a great voice. I’m in love. | How’d I get it?Library | Format: Audiobook CD | Check me out on Goodreads.

**No progress since last week**

Titanborn

Progress: 15% | Opinion So Far: Interesting enough. Reminds me a bit of that Syfy show The Expanse. | How’d I get it? Author-given copy for review. | Format: E-book | Check me out on Goodreads.

**No progress since last week**

Night Things: Dracula versus Frankenstein

Progress: 10% | Opinion So Far: Dude, this had better be as awesome as its already shaping up to be. I will be ticked if its not! | How’d I get it? Author-given copy for review. | Format: E-book | Check me out on Goodreads.

**No progress since last week**

Outbreak! Plagues That Changed History

Progress: 30% | Opinion So Far: Jam-packed with awesome information. | How’d I get it? Library | Format: Hardcover | Check me out on Goodreads

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2)

Progress: 67% | Opinion So Far: I am thoroughly unimpressed. This book is filled with a whole lot of air-headed nothingness. *yawn* I’m thisclose to DNFing it. | How’d I get it? Library | Format: E-book | Check me out on Goodreads.

National Geographic Angry Birds Space: A Furious Flight Into the Final Frontier

Progress: 25% | Opinion So Far: Reading this with Miss L. Its trying to relate space to little kids. Not doing the best job, but it is trying. | How’d I get it? Library | Format: Paperback | Check me out on Goodreads.

  1. I hope Miss L gets better very soon! 🙁
The cover for Nightmare Man gives me shivers! Outbreak does look like a very interesting book.

  2. Oh no. I hope she’s feeling better soon 🙁

Scarlet is by far the weakest book in the Lunar Chronicles series (I found Scarlet herself beyond irritating and Wolf little better). If you can skim read to the end (where Cinder turns up for a bit, thank god), just so you know what happens, then at least you can move onto Cress which is better.
At least Saturn Run sounds like it’s making up for any deficiencies in other books!

    Here’s my WWW: https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/02/24/www-wednesday-24th-february-2016/

      1. Cress has more computer-hacking, running from the law and fighting a potential plague stuff going on. But the romance also starts to ramp up… Hmn. Scarlet is definitely the series low-point though.

        1. I’ll at least start the third book, just because I put a hold on it at the same time I put a hold on Scarlet, but, yeah…if its not immediately good within the first 20 pages…I’m walking away.
