Short Story Review: The Little Death by Dawn Buckner

What’s it about?

A photographer facing his own death struggles to get the perfect shot. Problem is, none of the models he hires can give him what he wants.

The Little Death

My Review of The Little Death

The Little Death was a decent short-story with an ending that didn’t happen quite the way I expected it to. Buckner does a good job putting you into the story of the photographer, Simon, as he confronts his own mortality, and lets you feel his desperate drive to get the one shot that no one else has gotten before its too late.

Unfortunately, while decent, The Little Death is missing the impossible-to-describe spark that takes a story from being decent to being good. It falls just a little short of the mark, which is sad, because I think it does have the potential to be good.

  1. To bad that one wasn’t as good as it could have been.
