LITTLE CUTS is a collection of four short stories from horror, thriller, and children’s book writer, HMC.
Little Cuts follows a misfit teen who is tormented by ghosts in HILARY’S SHADOW, a young girl who is haunted by the death of her father in RING AROUND THE ROSIE, a woman who has fought vicious, mind-altering machines in TECH DEATH 2040, and a teenage boy who loses everything in CATALINA. Little Cuts will not only give you the heebeegeebees, but it will make you laugh, and cry, too. – Goodreads
Little Cuts Review
Little Cuts was an excellent collection of short stories by an obviously talented author. At only 62 pages total, each story was a bite-sized bit of horror, with each taking on a different thread of the scary, from the mundane to the futuristic. I haven’t read any of the authors other works, but this sampling tells me enough about her to let me know I’ll be looking into her writing in the future.
My favorite was the first one – Tech Death 2040 – as it was the perfect sort of “Tales from the Crypt” story that you could just see the Cryptkeeper announcing with a cackle and a line like “Beware always keeping your tech…on hand…” Ring Around the Rosie was deliciously creepy. Hilary’s Shadow was the only one in the whole collection that I didn’t particularly care for. I don’t know if it was a formatting error or what, but it was confusing to read, even though I tried to sort it out a couple times. Catalina was interesting and the perfect story to end on.
Fantastic read! I would definitely recommend you check this collection out. This might possibly be my favorite collection of short stories I’ve ever read.
