Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens
“Not too long ago the children of Aberdeen struck a blow against the tyranny of their oppressors — an army of giant robot chickens. But the chickens were not defeated and now the city’s warring factions have formed a council hoping to keep their chicken overlords at bay. But there’s a new robot chicken on the block, the Chickenator! When the new chicken starts to target council members, pecking them up one by one, Rayna suspects fowl play. How are the chickens tracking council members down so precisely? Could there be a spy in the council? Meanwhile, Jesse tries to hatch a plan to crack the chickens and set the human captives, including his older brother, free. Who will have the last cluck? This is a spectacular sequel to the riotous pun-filled Attack of the Giant Robot Chickens, winner of a 2015 Scottish Children’s Book Award”
Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens Review
Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens is a perfect choice for any child (or adult!) that loves puns. This book was filled with them, and it far surpassed my eggspectations, but I can see how it would be a pun-ishment to make someone read this book that didn’t like them.
Right from the moment I read the line “I didn’t run much before the chicken apocalypse“, I knew I was in for a squawking good time. So, I settled in to roost for the night, and prepared for the yolks to commence. I was happily surprised to find it wasn’t all puns and bad jokes though. There was actually an engaging action story with characters that were egged on by the knowledge there was a spy in their midst, fowling up their efforts to fight against the chicken overlords.
Giant Robot Chickens with butt thrusters. Ninja robot chickens. Brave children ready to ruffle poultry feathers and bring down evil cluckers that were attempting to take over their world. Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens is a great read that really cracked me up, and I can’t wait to read it to my child!
