What’s it about?
A family’s visit to the seashore, where the daughter discovers all sorts of new ocean creatures for the first time, and her parents teach her a lesson about leaving wildlife in its home.
My Review of Can We Keep Them
A cute rhyming book that teaches children to respect animals and their environment is always going to score high in my book. When you add in the fact that the family featured is non-white, therefore adding more diversity to the childrens’ book pool, it just pushes it even higher up.
This was an adorable book with a good message and cute illustrations. The only issue I had with it was that a couple times the rhyme seemed a bit awkward, and didn’t really flow off the tongue like it should have.
Overall, though, Carla Faraldo is an author I’m happy to have found, and I’ll definitely be checking out more of her kids books!
